More than 2,000 passengers were injured while using the subway in Seoul over the last five years. By subway line, Line No. 2 recorded the highest number of injured passengers. According to data released by Rep. Hwang Hee of the Democratic Party of Korea, a total of 2,485 passengers were involved in safety accidents while aboard subway Lines No. 1 to 9 from 2019 to August this year. By year, 671 passengers were record.
Four passengers were injured as they rushed to get off the subway upon being told to evacuate from a train in Seoul due to a crime taking place inside, Wednesday morning. Seoul Jungbu Police Station received a report about a “suspicious person” aboard the Line No. 2 subway heading to Euljiro 4-ga Station from Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station at 8:23 a.m. Seoul Metro also stopped subway operatio.
Subway protests by disability rights activists who are demanding an increased government budget to protect the rights of people with disabilities are becoming increasingly tense. Since last year, the activists have been disrupting subway operations throughout Seoul s subway system for long periods of time. They announced on Tuesday that they will continue with their protests “every day except on weekends and holidays,” until their demands are met.

Though held over 30 years ago, the 1988 Seoul Olympics left many legacies in the city from the Seoul Olympic Stadium and the Olympic rings adorning walls of the riverside expressways of Seoul to the downtown skyline on the Olympic marathon course and the industrialization of the design and architectural process. Olympic Effect: Korean Architecture and Design from 1980s to 1990s, a new exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon (MMCA), examines Korea s modern architecture and design before and after the country s first major international sporting event.
