money and awareness for pro-life organization love life. he joins us now ahead of his adventure. he starts tomorrow. pastor, we need a little bit of love, a little bit of faith. tomorrow is national day of prayer. why are you doing this, sir? lawrence, thanks for having me on. we have a culture of death in america and we just heard that. we want to build a culture of love and a culture of life. not put a i put a dream in my heart and tomorrow morning, that dream becomes a reality as i bike across america, 3400 miles to help build a culture of love and life. listen, we cannot shed innocent lives in the womb. 65 million and not expect to see bloodshed in the streets. and so i hope and pray that we pray that we are going to see this thing shift and we are and we are going to we are going to bring awareness and say, women who have an unplanned pregnancy do not have to run to an
overturned. the pro-choice group wasn t really super motivated, because to him, it was always going to be legal, it s not the thing that drives you to polls. pro-life was. now that that has switched, you see the pro-choice crowd being driven to the polls and the pro-life crowd is unable to have a coherent message here. i say, as a pro-lifer myself, i say we should move to a position to promoting a culture of life. how do we encourage adoption in this country. how do we make sure those that are born in an unwanted environment can be adopted? and let s be realistic thing about rape, incest, life and health of the mother, and let s set a reasonable time frame, not at six weeks for abortion, something a little farther down the line. and i think that could have been a big win, frankly for the pro-life movement and the pro-choice probably wouldn t agree with all of it, but it wouldn t be as cruel as what you re seeing out of my party now and it s bad politics. was it a mistake for desantis
where do you see the politics of this going for your party? i mean, the politics is terrible for the gop. i mean wing you have to have a consistent message. after we had the dobbs decision, the gop should have come out and say, we want to create a culture of life. how do you do that? let s encourage adoption. let s encourage responsible birth control use, stuff like that. instead, it s gone into this doom loop of like meanness. now we re going to make it six weeks, now we re going to make it four weeks. now we ll punish the women who have abortions. and you re destroying any kind of culture of life that you had with this process. it s terrible politics. and i think, frankly, these legislatures are now running against the wall and recognizing that this is going to cost them big in 2024. i completely agree. you can t be the republican party, the mantra was, this is a state s rights issue. this is a state s rights issues. dobbs has decided it s a state s right issue. president trump
states are deciding it. some states have new jersey, and republicans said, now we need a federal ban. it s not a good place. there are no states that have abortion on demand. but let me make this point, i think what we saw in two red states, in nebraska and south carolina is politicians who decided that total bans and a six-week ban is in effect a total ban, because a majority of women don t know they re pregnant at six weeks, is that it s wrong on the merits and wrong on the politics. but i don t see this as a course correction for the gop, you still have people like governor hutchinson here who signed into law a total ban. you have governor desantis who signed into law a six-week ban. and that is going to be a millstone around republicans necks going into the general election. i think it is another indication that many of our elected officials are out of touch with what their constituents actually want. it s not just about a culture of life. it s about women having the bodily au
