At crucial time for the arts, network of admins of color expands
Soon after its December 2019 launch, a group originally billed as the New Jersey Arts Administrators of Color found itself navigating one of the toughest years ever for arts organizations, hampered by shutdowns and restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yet through it all, the network continued to grow, and now with full-capacity performances and open exhibits soon to be a reality once again, work continues to emphasize creativity and inclusion within the Garden State s arts community.
Now called the New Jersey Arts and Culture Administrators of Color, its three original partners, New Jersey Theatre Alliance, ArtPride New Jersey, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, have welcomed a fourth, Newark Symphony Hall.

New Jersey Theatre Alliance Welcomes Diverse Slate of Theatres after Expanding Membership Criteria
(MORRISTOWN, NJ) As part of their commitment to increasing equity, inclusion, justice, and access in the theatre field, New Jersey Theatre Alliance, the statewide service organization for professional theatre, has expanded their membership criteria and added 11 new members to their roster.
“We are delighted to welcome these new members into the Alliance,” said John McEwen, Executive Director. “These companies represent an excellent and diverse group of professional theatres, each of which is deeply committed to their local community and to using theatre to build a more empathetic, imaginative, and equitable world. We are eager to be of service to these organizations, and equally, look forward to learning from them as they bring their expertise and experience to our collaborative efforts.”
