Catholics from numerous ethnic and national backgrounds came together in prayer and celebration for the annual Cultural Heritage Mass at the cathedral, led by Archbishop Perez.
The annual liturgy, celebrated March 12 at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, drew some 300 participants representing 28 national, ethnic and Eastern Catholic traditions.

Some 300 faithful gathered this past Saturday to display their “cultural splendor” while affirming their unity in Christ.
Archbishop Nelson Pérez was the principal celebrant and homilist for an April 24 Cultural Heritage Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul. The annual liturgy, sponsored by the archdiocesan Office for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Refugees (PCMR) and the Pontifical Mission Societies, drew participants representing dozens of heritages, including Native American, Asian, African, European, Hispanic, Caribbean and Brazilian.

The rich diversity of cultures and ethnicities was on vibrant display for the annual Cultural Heritage Mass of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, April 24 at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul. Archbishop Nelson Perez, joined by clergy from many parishes, celebrated the Mass. Preceding the start of Mass was a procession of flags representing the numerous communities proclaiming their ethnic and Catholic religious heritage.
