After a year ravaged by COVID-19, the city of Greenville is preparing to adopt a budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year with an eye toward recovery and renewed investment.
The $215-million budget is made up of the general fund, which draws from property taxes and business licenses; hospitality and accommodations taxes; and user fees like sewer, stormwater and parking funds.
Armed with this new budget, the city will strive to address infrastructure needs, provide excellent customer service, further economic development and invest in public safety and first-responders, city staff and councilmembers said during budget workshops.
City Council will hold a public hearing and first reading to adopt the 2022 budget on May 24. The new fiscal year begins July 1.
