Manhattan: While the Editorial Board’s arguments may seem logical (“Blowing smoke,” editorial, May 1), it is misguided to think that the state can make better decisions for the Harlem community than the community itself. As stakeholders of Harlem, organizations like the 125th Street BID, police precincts, the Sanitation Department and the community board have a deeper understanding of the everyday issues of crime, security, sanitation and finances that affect the neighborhood. As a result, they know better than the state what is best for their community.
