Recently-retired LMT photographer Cuate Santos was recognized by the Webb County Commissioners Court on Monday for his 39 years of service to the community.
Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina lauded Santos for always being himself kind, good-humored, low-key and professional.
“You’re all heart and you’re all love,” Tijerina said.
Commissioner Wawi Tijerina said she and Santos go back a long way, having grown up together in Colonia Guadalupe.

A letter written by UISD’s board president on Wednesday hoped to clarify concerns made regarding the outgoing selection of a new superintendent months before the current one retires.
Ramiro Veliz III said that there is currently no pushing of a potential candidate to replace longtime leader Roberto J. Santos, and that the board agrees with UISD constituents regarding a thorough search being executed to find the next superintendent.

Longtime Laredo Morning Times photographer and community figure Cuate Santos retired Thursday after a full career documenting everything from Mexican and U.S. presidents to big-time sports figures.
Santos also has taken pictures at the Menudo Bowl and the Jalapeno Festival, where “Hey Cuate!” could be heard wherever he walked.
