Ottawa police investigating report of gunshots near Lansdowne Park

OTTAWA Ottawa police are investigating reports of gunshots in the Glebe on the weekend. Police say several people called to say they heard shots along Bank Street near Lansdowne Park at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday.  No injuries have been reported. Police are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and contact police or Crime Stoppers. Share:

City, NCC responding to reports of large parties in local parks

  OTTAWA The National Capital Commission says it is working with the City of Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health on additional steps to enforce public health measures in parks after photos of beer bottles and other debris at Vincent Massey Park were shared on social media. Some residents posted photos showing empty beer bottles and cases on picnic tables at the park following what appeared to be a large gathering this past weekend. Vincent Massey Park at 7:30 am today - there were at least ten other tables covered in bottles. Looks like this well planned party got broken up early. Outaouais region sets pandemic record with 290 new COVID-19 cases

GATINEAU, QUE. The Outaouais region of Quebec is facing another record-setting COVID-19 case count. The Quebec government reported 290 new cases of COVID-19 in Gatineau and western Quebec on Monday. The previous high point was 178 new cases, which were reported on April 7. It s a major jump from Sunday s report of 59 cases, a low point in a week that saw 862 total cases reported. On Thursday, Quebec Premier François Legault announced the special emergency measures for Gatineau and the MRC des Collines-de-l Outaouais would remain in place until April 18. The initial 10-day lockdown announced in early April was previously set to expire Monday.

Motorcyclist seriously injured in two-vehicle crash in Ottawa s south end

  OTTAWA A motorcycle driver is being treated for serious injuries after a two vehicle crash in Ottawa s south-end. Emergency crews responded to the crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on Prince of Wales Drive, between Strandherd Drive and Rideau Valley Drive, at 4:40 p.m. Saturday. The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Ottawa police continue to investigate. Prince of Wales Drive remains closed between Strandherd Drive and Rideau Valley Drive. Share:

Ottawa fire rescues passengers from inflatable boat filling with water at Petrie Island

  OTTAWA Ottawa firefighters came to the rescue of passengers in an inflatable boat that was taking on water at Petrie Island. A passenger called 911 Saturday afternoon as water filled the boat along the Ottawa River. The caller gave an excellent description of where they had launched the boat, and where they were headed, mentioning landmarks along the way, said Ottawa Fire in a media release. The Ottawa Fire Water Rescue Technicians were able to safely load the passengers into the boat and return them to shore. Ottawa Fire reminds people to always wear a personal flotation device while out on the water.
