While 2020 was a challenging year for most, it also forced us to go back to the drawing board and reassess our priorities, to cut out the frills and focus on the things that really matter and to make ‘me’ and family time more meaningful. Now, as we head full-on into the new year, one thing is clear we have to continue to take forward the learnings of last year. Self-care above all needs to be the underlying theme, especially if we are to stay sane in this increasingly dystopian world. While several books and TED talks have focussed on the importance of a morning routine for success, last year with sleep schedules especially getting disrupted and mental issues on the rise in lockdown saw the emergence of unwinding rituals and the ripple effect (this time, more positive) on all aspects of life, with downtime and relaxation becoming vital components of well-being.
