Alan David Bayer of Des Plaines Alan David Bayer, 68, died on May 18. Bayer was a longtime employee of the Journal & Topics. He was active in the Optimist Club of Des Plaines and was a dedicated White Sox fan. He was the son of Raymond and Evelyn Bayer, and leaves behind many nieces,
