IRON MOUNTAIN Dickinson County on Monday gave ownership of the senior center at Crystal Lake to the Senior Citizens Council of Dickinson County, nearly 10 months after starting the process.
The council, which had previously leased the center, will pay a token $1 for the building and property.
“Amen,” was the comment of County Board Chairman Henry Wender after a vote to complete the sale.

BREITUNG TOWNSHIP Jeffrey Robert DeRidder, 78, of Breitung Township, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Dec. 26, and drove off to that great racetrack in the sky.
Jeff was born July 15, 1942, in Norway, Mich., to the late Joseph and Lucille (Dollinger) DeRidder. After his father was killed in action in World War II, he attended elementary schools in Norway and Iron Mountain before moving to Chicago with his mother, a professional singer, for several years. He spent summers in Iron Mountain working in his grandmother’s restaurant, the Casa Loma, and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1960.
He studied mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University for two years but later transferred to Northern Michigan University, where he obtained a degree in math and physics.
