Millions of devotees are expected as the Feast of the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene will be observed in many parts of the country today, January 9.
With the theme “Huwag Matakot. Si Hesus ito,” many parishes in various parts of the country will join in the simultaneous commemoration to help spread the message of the feast in relation to the pandemic.

“There will be commemorative masses from Batanes to Mindanao that will be celebrated simultaneously. In some areas that are under the modified general community quarantine, the local government has allowed the holding of processions and motorcade,” said Rev. Fr. Douglas Badong, parochial vicar of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, over Radio Veritas.

Domagoso also said that devotees of the Black Nazarene who defy this warning may be apprehended.
“Huwag kayo magdala ng bisikleta, huwag kayong magdala ng sasakyan, huwag kayong magdala ng motor at ipapasok niyo sa (Do not bring bicycles, cars, and motorcycles inside the) concerned radius from the church,” he told reporters on Thursday.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, who signed Executive Order No. 1 series of 2021 on Thursday (January 8) also suspended city government work on the said day.
“The suspension of classes will not only give the parents and students the time to participate in the religious activities that day but will also give them full access to the use of internet/gadgets and follow the activities at home and avoid crowding in churches,” the order read.

MANILA – The celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene in January next year would be “localized”, an official of the Quiapo Church said on Friday.
“There is no procession but the celebration will push through but there will be big and many changes in commemorating the feast of the Black Nazarene,” said Fr. Douglas Badong, parochial vicar of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, in a press conference.
