Here’s a look at the stories that shaped this year, picked by the Hutchinson News staff:
1. COVID-19 pandemic
This event shaped news stories in our community from Day 1. In barely one rotation of our earth around the sun, we’ve seen incredible change in Hutchinson. As families grieve the loss of loved ones and vaccines are distributed around our community, we’ll continue to watch COVID-19 into 2021.
2. Elections
If the pandemic wasn’t tumultuous enough, the nation trudged through another presidential election year with new COVID-19 adaptations. Kansas elected new senators and representatives, as well as new local officials. After officials take their respective offices in January, we look forward to ongoing conversations about our local and wider government.
