午前9時に対局開始が告げられると、先手の豊島二冠が30秒ほど間を開けてから飛車先の歩を突き、後手の藤井二冠はお茶を一口飲んでから、同じく飛車先を突きました。
一方、挑戦者の豊島二冠は「竜王」と「叡王」のタイトルを持つトップ棋士で、藤井二冠はこれまで1勝7敗と大きく負け越しています。
今回の「王位戦」は、藤井二冠にとって2つめの防衛戦で、6月に行われた第1局では豊島二冠が勝利しています。
対局は14日午後に勝敗が決まる見通しで、先に4勝したほうがタイトルを獲得します。
