Brainerd firefighters respond to vehicle fire, gas smell and general fire alarm.

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to three calls Tuesday, June 29.
Firefighters were called at 12:46 p.m. to a vehicle fire on the 16000 block of Crow Wing County Highway 25. Upon arrival, the vehicle was fully involved.
A report of a gas smell was reported at 3:17 p.m. on the 300 block of North Seventh Street. Firefighters investigated and provided standby assistance for the utility company.
A call to respond to Forestview Middle School, 12149 Knollwood Drive, Baxter came in at 5:05 p.m., which was determined to be unfounded.

Towing-related crash injures Deerwood man
A Dodge Ram was pulling a Ford F-250 with a tie-down strap north on Nokay Lake Road approaching an intersection, when the strap broke and the Ford passed the Dodge and struck an oncoming Chevy, the state patrol reported.

DEERWOOD An 18-year-old Deerwood man was injured Monday, June 28, when a strap towing the truck he was in broke, causing the truck to strike an SUV.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash at 12:39 p.m. where a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling east on Crow Wing County Highway 12 approaching Nokay Lake Road. During the same time, a Dodge Ram was pulling a Ford F-250 with a tie-down strap north on Nokay Lake Road approaching the intersection. The tie-down strap broke and the Ford passed the Dodge and struck the Chevy in the intersection, the state patrol reported.
