LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) The La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday announced a community-wide talent attraction campaign, aimed at attracting more top-quality employees to relocate, live and work in our community.
The chamber of commerce has invested $19,000 in the project, which is a collaboration with other local organizations, including La Crosse County, La Crosse Area Development Corporation and Explore La Crosse. This campaign includes the completion of a community toolkit to assist area employers in their efforts to attract talent to Greater La Crosse. The toolkit will include a logo, branding statement, landing page, photos, videos, digital ads, and targeted advertising in key hubs of regional talent, such as Madison, Milwaukee, and the Twin Cities.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – What was a field of 10 total candidates for La Crosse’s next mayor is now down to the final two: Vicki Markussen and Mitch Reynolds.
“It is the most humbling thing to see those results come in knowing that people voted for you and believe in you,” Markussen said. “I’m very grateful today.”
“I couldn’t have done any of this without the volunteer efforts of those who were out in the streets, especially out when we had highs of below 0,” Reynolds said.
Of those ten, two will advance to April’s general election.
Former La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Vicki Markussen filed paperwork for the race in December last year.
We asked Markussen why people should vote for her.
“I am the candidate who has lived the closest life to being a mayor. I have tremendous experience, whether that is being that voice of hope there as in the Chamber, the businesses were struggling. I’ve been to the sister cities with the Mayor,” said La Crosse mayoral candidate Vicki Markussen.
Former La Crosse business owner Chris Stolpa filed his nomination papers in January.
