NSW live music grants given to big businesses

Advertisement A multimillion-dollar funding program to support the live music sector has come under fire for providing money to venues owned by some of Sydney’s largest hospitality and entertainment companies. Venues operated by Justin Hemmes’ Merivale, Event Hospitality & Entertainment (which owns Event Cinemas and Rydges Hotels) and the Australian Venue Co. were among the 162 recipients of money under the state government’s $24 million live music support program.
