respect to not just judge kavanaugh but to the senate. i think the senate has been manipulated. these charges were held back until the very last minute, even after the hearings were over. what the senate has to do is to make sure it does its constitutional job. this is not about a forum for airing grievances much the senate has to find out the truth. there is no forensic evidence anymore. the only thing that is left is the witness s testimony. the senators have to put them under oath and being respectful. we have found in our legal system, the best way to get the truth is to subject both witnesses to questioning and cross-examinations. i don t think anyone should be treated with kid gloves or differently. we ask this of people in cases every day in courtrooms around the country in these kind of cases. i don t think we should expect any less and give respect to kavanaugh and dr. ford but show them respect by expecting them to tell the truth under oath and be willing to answer questions
question mark at the end. they just give a speech. this is much more substantive, cross examinations. they do their homework and really push for admissible evidence for tough information and tough questions to get the witness to be honest. dana: i m going to ask a question that you can t answer because you don t have a crystal ball that based on your previous experience, they ve been saying all through the fall that they ve expected bob mueller will wrap up by the end of 2017. we are now january 16th, 2018. we still have these things happening. do you think it s close to being done? my crystal ball says they won t finish in 2017. dana: [laughs] well done. [laughs] beyond that, it s really tough to gauge. it comes down to the internal
in public. i have, in effect, demanded it. others on the committee expect it. and have insisted on it. and i think that the chairman who has conducted the hearings in a very impartial, professional, straightforward way, will require donald trump junior to testify in public under oath, and so this meeting is not the final session when donald trump will be answering these questions. but help me out here. i m a rank amateur here. i ve only sat and watched trials and watched cross examinations, of course, during the course of my career. given the level of import of this person at this hearing, why is he not under oath? well, that s a good question. in this hearing and in this setting, think of it more like a preparation for the trial. much like a deposition where a witness may be asked questions and we can use his answers to
