The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 13.6 per cent provincially and 13.7 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on December 16, 2020, 292 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, one case was removed due to a data correction making the net total 291 and brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 21,826.
Public health officials advise 15 additional deaths in people with COVID-19 have been reported today including:
a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region;
a female in her 40s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to outbreak at Kin Place;
Manitoba RCMP respond to thousands of COVID-19 enforcement calls from Dec. 7 to Dec. 13

Between December 7 and December 13, Manitoba RCMP received 5,764 calls related to COVID-19 enforcement, though only 48 tickets were issued as a result.
Officials advise that enforcement efforts are beginning to pay off, noting that of 5,764 calls received for the week of Dec. 7 to 13, only 48 tickets were issued including:
seven $5,000 tickets to businesses for various offences,
36 $1,296 tickets to individuals for various offences,
five $298 tickets for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places, and
a total of $82,146 in fines were issued last week.
Between November 30 and December 6, 2020, Manitoba RCMP handed out a total of 285 warnings and 85 tickets related to COVID-19 enforcement. Total fines were over $122,000.
