Grant Blackley reveals SCA’s plans for LiSTNR, including 35 new radio stations Southern Cross Austero’s (SCA) ambitious growth plans for its LiSTNR platform have been revealed by its CEO Grant Blackley, including hopes it will be taken up by 15 million Australians aged over 18. In addition to the lofty usage plans, Blackley revealed the platform will launch 35 new music-based radio stations, taking the total to 50, before the end of 2021. Speaking to media last night, Blackley also highlighted its looming plans for talent-based announcements. Australia Today may have been unexpected for what is effectively an entertainment radio group, but is the first of many moves in a similar vein – “he is the first, he certainly won’t be the last, is all I’ll say”.

KIIS Breakfast host Kyle Sandilands has once again slagged off his former employer, labelling the latest iteration of the 2DayFM Breakfast show a “mess”, a “disaster” and a program which is doomed to failure. Sandilands has frequently criticised both 2DayFM’s choice of lineup and its parent company Southern Cross Austero (SCA) since he and co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson defected to Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) KIIS at the end of 2013. Since their defection, which sent shockwaves through the industry and gave KIIS the boost it needed to kick off as a radio brand in Sydney, 2Day has trialled various Breakfast lineups including Jules Lund, Merrick Watts, Sophie Monk, Spice Girl Mel B, Dan Debuf, Maz Compton, Rove McManus, Sam Frost, Em Rusciano, Harley Breen, Ed Kavalee, Grant Denyer, Ash London and Jamie Angel.
