SPECSAVERS has announced that it will remain open throughout the new national lockdown, offering both optical and audiology services. The opticians and audiologists, which has branches in Crompton Place Shopping Centre, Bolton Sainsbury s and Middlebrook Retail Park is considered an essential healthcare service and as such will remain available. The chain will also be offering home visits for customers who cannot leave their homes for eye tests. Specsavers CEO John Perkins said: This is such a difficult time for everyone but it is essential that we remain open to continue to provide care, especially for key workers and to help support our partners in the NHS.

BCEGI and Cityheart, the consortium appointed earlier this month to deliver the £130m transformation of the Wigan shopping complex, propose building 464 homes, a six-screen cinema and a music venue.
In addition, the scheme, which was originally predicted to cost £125m, would see a reduction in retail space and a focus on leisure, with a bowling alley and indoor mini-golf attraction also proposed.
A hotel, food & beverage units and a 460-space car park also feature in the consortium’s plans, alongside a market hall that would feature a food hall, co-working space and small office suites.
