The recreation areas allow for multiple types of recreation activities. Only Watson’s East Triangle Wild Forest is state-owned forest preserve land. It consists of 13,229 acres of forested rolling hill terrain in the towns of Croghan, Diana, Watson and, in Herkimer County, Webb, just inside the Adirondack Park Blue Line. About 2,240 acres of the area are wetlands.

This weekend in the Adirondacks: A little rain, ice, snow and of course, mud

High Peaks draped in clouds and a dusting of fresh spring snow. Photo of the Day archive: Sue Cameron, Lake Placid NY. Apr 30, 2021 Expect to encounter a little rain, and even some mixed-precipitation and the possibility of a little snow at the higher elevations. Tomorrow looks to be chilly, and blustery. Expect to encounter blowdown and keep an eye on the weather forecast.  Muddy conditions continue, especially in the Central Adirondacks including the High Peaks. The DEC mud season advisory remains in effect, so avoid hiking above about 2,500 feet, especially in the High Peaks, Giant Mountain, McKenzie Mountain and Sentinel Range Wilderness Areas.
