CRIS Nievarez dropped out of contention in the medal rounds of the men s single sculls, finishing fifth in quarterfinal 4 of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games rowing regatta at the Sea Forest Waterway on Sunday.
Nievarez failed to make it to the top three after clocking seven minutes, 50.74 seconds, 37.99 seconds behind winner Oliver Zeidler of Germany.
Zeilder checked in at 7:12.75, with Luca Verthein Ferreira of Brazil placing second with 7:14.26 and Mindaugas Griskonis of Lithuania in third with 7:16.71.
The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist on Friday made it to the quarterfinal round after he finished in third in Heat 5.
The 21-year-old Nievarez will now be vying for rankings as he moves to the semifinal C/D to be held on Tuesday.
