A police operation has led to the recovery of multiple firearms including an AR15 semi-automatic assault rifle and several rounds of ammunition.
According to the Police Press Officer Ann Joseph, police officers were engaged in an operation on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, on Martin Luther King Street in Vieux Fort, during which time officers discovered five firearms and a wide range of ammunition were recovered at a residence.
“The firearms recovered included an AR15 Rifle and four pistols (three 9mm and one .40mm) and approximately 110 rounds of ammunition, of varying calibre,” Joseph said.
Including in the find were several black ski masks, two bulletproof vests, as well as a quantity of controlled drugs, which were confiscated.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. An investigation is underway after Knoxville Police Department officers said they were approached by a gunshot victim while conducting a traffic stop on Magnolia Avenue Thursday night.
Around 8:45 p.m., Knoxville Police Department officers said that while conducting a traffic stop on Magnolia Avenue at North Bertrand Street they were approached by a male victim who was suffering from what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound.
The Knoxville health center will be closed this weekend and is set to reopen Monday.
It offers health services for men and women. It is a resource to provide women with a medical abortion via a pill.
According to Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi, it s the first reported act of of targeted violence in the affiliate’s history.
Erland said a Property Crimes Unit investigator has been assigned to the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Hotline at 865-215-7212.
