Suspected shoplifters were caught with 20 bottles of champagne and whisky in a car in Rugby.
Warwickshire Police officers stopped a car in Crick Road yesterday (May 11) after it was alleged to have been used in another attempted theft in the town.
An image showing how the proposed Crick Road care home could look MORE than £2.8 million will be available for the development of a care home in a Monmouthshire village during the next financial year, despite concerns that the sum needed to be spent by the end of March. Monmouthshire County Council has been given more time to spend the integrated care fund money on its new Portskewett care home. The Crick Road development in the village had been allocated more than £4m from the integrated care fund, having so far spent £1.2m. Comprising the development of 271 homes and a new care home, this is a project between the county council and Melin Homes.
This includes a total of 673 houses across four developments located at Sudbrook Shipyard, Sudbrook Papermill, Crick Road and Church Road. The report says: “The building works at Sudbrook Shipyard and Sudbrook Papermill have commenced, however, the council anticipates that approximately 134 primary aged pupils could arise from the developments between now and 2024.” Caldicot Castle ward member Cllr Jo Watkins raised concerns over whether the additional 140 places would be enough. She also asked about the impact it might have on class sizes, which currently have an upper limit of 30 in Wales. The cabinet member for education, Cllr Richard John, said it would be something to consider in the consultation and as the plans develop.
