Walking towards the Bogside a plaque is fixed to a house on Creggan Street. It honours two local teenagers who were ‘murdered by the British Army’ on Easter Sunday 1981.
Today marks the 40th anniversary of those young men whose lives were cruelly cut short; 19-year-old Gary English and 18-year-old Jim Brown.

A MAN accused of the vicious stab murder of Edward Meenan in Derry has been granted bail.
Derek William Cresswell (28) is currently in custody at Maghaberry prison after breaching his bail conditions for a second time.
At Belfast Crown Court his defence legal team proposed that he could be released from prison to live with a relative in Co Tyrone well away from Derry .
A Prosecution lawyer said daily reporting to police was required so that we could keep close tabs on the defendant .
A 33-year old man awaiting trial for the November 2018 murder of Edward Meenan was granted bail today (Monday).
As he agreed to release Sean Ciaran Joseph Rodgers, Mr Justice O Hara warned that any breaches of the conditions imposed would result in a return to custody where he will remain until the trial.
Rodgers, of no fixed abode, is one of four people charged with offences arising from the murder of Edward Meenan. The body of the 52-year old was discovered in an alleyway in the Creggan Street of Derry, after he sustained multiple stab wounds.
The defendant appeared via a videolink with Maghaberry at Belfast Crown Court, where a Crown barrister voiced opposition to his release on the ground he has breached bail on several occasions.
