It’s the state’s first water-quality bill signed into law since the early nineties. It follows the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2020 decision to remove federal protections for waterways that don’t flow year-round. Supporters of the new program say clean water regulation should fall to the state and not the federal government. But some conservation groups say the bill isn’t strong enough and needs to incorporate more scientific data and public review. The Arizona Department of Water Quality is working on a draft list of protected waters.

Body Pulled From River ID d As A Missing Bullhead City Man

Credit Arizona Department of Water Resources   A body recovered from the Colorado River has been identified as a missing Bullhead City man who was in a boating accident, authorities said Sunday. Bullhead City said they received a call of a body floating down the river near the Palo Verde Meadows Marina around 11 a.m. Saturday. The Nevada Department of Wildlife assisted in recovering the body. Authorities said the body was positively identified as 62-year-old James Edward McCloskey who went missing in the river on April 8 after being thrown off a boat. Two men were ejected from a boat that was spinning out of control near the Camino Del Rio area, according to police.
