Shilling comes to the festival from her most recent position as the founding executive director of the Arts for Healing and Justice Network (which was formerly the Incarcerated Youth Network) in Los Angeles, California. That organization, which grew from a startup into a nonprofit with a $3 million budget, helped integrate arts programming into every juvenile detention facility in Los Angeles County, in addition to schools. Shilling also cofounded the four-part Create Justice series, a national gathering for leaders in arts, social justice, and youth justice reform, in partnership with Carnegie Hall.
