Hal Utterback of the Crawfordsville Police Department retired after 41 years patrolling the streets, ending a career that brought him to the front lines of fighting crime and into the lives of middle schoolers learning to say no to drugs. “I’ve been one of those rare people that has gotten to do exactly what they wanted to do for their entire working career,” he said.

March showers may be soon to come, but they certainly won’t drown out the steady flow of news to our lovely county. It was another busy week in Montgomery County. AFTER A SLOW start, the annual United Fund drive finished with a flourish. In mid to late December the drive had barely reached $130,000 toward a goal of $300,000. However, on Tuesday, when the final tally was unveiled to the public, the 2020 drive finished at $251,424.58.

Covington man arrested for child porn Friday, February 26, 2021 4:00 AM A 30-year-old Covington man was arrested Wednesday by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on a felony child pornography charge. Michael S. Dinsmore was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, a level 5 felony. Dinsmore was remanded into the Fountain County Jail on Wednesday. The investigation began in October when Montgomery County Sheriff’s investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This investigation led investigators from Montgomery County and the Indiana State Police ICAC Unit, ISP Cyber Crime Unit, ISP District 14 Lafayette Post, Crawfordsville Police Department, the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department, the Covington Police Department and the Indiana ICAC Task Force to interview Dinsmore. Investigators also requested and were granted a search warrant for his residence.
