Trial underway for man accused of killing 2-year-old girl in Van Buren
In opening statements, prosecutors told jurors the evidence would show that the little girl had been beaten, suffered a fractured skull and was given Oxycodone the night before police and first responders found her dead inside her mother s Van Buren home on Nov. 8, 2018.
Olivia s father, Jose Soto, listened intently to the testimony. It s heartbreaking because it s your daughter, your kid, your child and to hear those things, how they found her, it s tough. But I m going to have to keep being tough because I know there s more to come, so I m going to have to just be tough, he said.
