Minister Coveney launches virtual St. Patrickâs Day programme
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence, Simon Coveney TD, has announced a virtual St Patrickâs Day initiative, which will see Irelandâs National Day celebrated across the world in a series of online events hosted by Irelandâs embassies and consulates.
Announcing the 2021 St Patrickâs Day plans Minister Coveney said: For a second year our St. Patrickâs Day celebrations abroad will be greatly limited by this pandemic. To meet this challenge, Irelandâs network of diplomatic missions are planning a series of virtual community, business and artistic events in lieu of their traditional programme of activities and visits. Ireland is a country at the heart of the digital economy. Working alongside the State Agencies and local Irish community and cultural organisations, we will be making full use of technology and the digital platforms to celebrate our National Day across

Hozier will kick off the season with an intimate, stripped-back, performance, featuring new string arrangements by Ireland s Crash Ensemble. Viewers can also expect performances from two Choice Music Prize nominated acts - the indie rock four-piece Pillow Queens and singer-songwriter Niamh Regan, both of whom released debut albums in 2020.
