Serial killer Dennis Nilsen confesses to a string of new crimes from beyond the grave

When he died, this book should have died with him. The Department of Health and Social Security flagged up its suspicions on February 16, 1983, days after Nilsen was arrested after human remains were found in a drain running from his flat in Cranley Gardens, north London. They noted: An officer in a local office recalled the name of an individual who had resided at the Melrose Avenue address. The case papers were brought out and it was seen that the person who had been on benefit had been a frequent visitor to the office but suddenly ceased to claim. For a time, he and Mick Avory shared a house near Cranley Gardens, where he also lived with the music journalist and Ready Steady Go! presenter Michael Aldred. “Me and Michael were close,” Davies says, “I guess he thought we fell in love.
