One of the biggest winners of Friday’s announcement to changes of the 2021 Spring Racing Carnival appears to be the Cranbourne Turf Club, who have benched their two-day carnival for the opportunity to host a standalone Saturday fixture the week after the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The Cranbourne Cup will be conducted on November 13 and offer an increased $500,000 in prizemoney over a new distance of 1600 metres.
“It is a great opportunity for our club being offered the opportunity to run a standalone Saturday meeting during the Spring Racing Carnival this year,” Cranbourne Turf Club CEO Neil Bainbridge told
Covid-19 vaccine bookings have rebounded despite widespread publicity of blood clotting side-effects, a Keysborough clinic has reported.
As of 10 May, there have been 11 Australian cases of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia linked to the Astrazeneca vaccine.
The innoculation is still considered low-risk, particularly for over-50’s and considering 1.4 million doses have been injected.
Keys Medical Centre in Keysborough reported vaccine recipients plummeted to a handful a day after news of the first clotting cases in Australia.
Clinic manager Riekie Jooste said numbers have restored to a “fully booked” 100 a week since over-50s became eligible.
Out of about 400 patients, two have reported mild complications such as joint aches.

Before today, only Australians in category 1a and 1b were able to get vaccinated. That included quarantine and border workers, healthcare staff, those working in aged care and disability care settings, aged care and disability care residents, household contacts of quarantine and border workers, all people over age 70, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and over, and any adults with an underlying medical condition or significant disability.

Cranbourne stables, stealing multiple cars, a horse float, phones, wallets and other equipment.
In the latest incident, two cars were stolen during jump-outs at the track yesterday, including one belonging to a foreman for
Busuttin/Young Racing.
Cindy Alderson’s was stolen in broad daylight.
A horse float has also been stolen in recent weeks and a month ago a car was stolen from the driveway of
Richard Laming’s stables and about $5000 worth of tools and other items were taken from Laming’s workshop.
