After several weeks of ferrying servicemen to freedom, operation homecoming returned 591 pows home. One of them carried james shively, whose sixyear imprisonment was at last at an end. After his return, he married his High School Sweetheart and raised her two young daughters as his own. One of those girls, fiveyearold amy, grew up to tell his story.
