Speciality’s Cafe & Bakery returned to Mountain View boasting a wide variety of sandwiches
A staple of workday lunches has returned to Mountain View, and even though employees of many companies continue to work from home, the steady stream of people picking up sandwiches among otherwise empty office parks indicates that local loyalty to Speciality’s Cafe & Bakery remains strong.
There’s outdoor seating, as well as free Wi-Fi at the 645 Ellis St. location if you’re waiting to pick up an order in your car. Pre-order through the website (specialtys.com), and on arrival you’ll find your bagged lunch waiting on a rack they’ve set up underneath a canopy outside the restaurant’s entrance.

The restaurant reopened its Mountain View location Monday nearly a year after saying it would permanently close its dozens of locations because of the coronavirus pandemic. The company announced on social media that people can get a taste of its updated menu starting this week, as first reported by Palo Alto Online.
It has added new items to its menu, but the cookies like the semi sweet chocolate chunk, chai snickerdoodle, oatmeal wheat germ chocolate chip and salted rye whiskey dark chocolate will stay the same. The cafe will also continue to serve Peet’s coffee.
