LANSING, MICH. Planning a trip in Michigan’s great outdoors doesn’t have to mean leaving your four-legged BFF behind. Michigan’s state parks and recreation areas generally welcome pets (with a few ground rules, of course), and several state parks offer pet-friendly lodging, too, from remote yurts to cozy mini cabins.
According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the following state-managed lodging options are open to pets. Note that there are some additional fees (details here), and that pet owners must follow DNR rules for pets in state parks. Overnight lodging options can be booked up to 12 months in advance at MiDNRReservations.com.
