COVID-19 vaccines were made available starting Monday by the Georgia Department of Public Health after Gov. Brian Kemp announced two weeks ago teachers and school staff would be now be eligible. Wilson was among the first Richmond County School System employees to receive the Pfizer vaccine Monday at Craig Houghton Elementary School.
Richmond County School employees will not be required to get vaccinated but are encouraged to do so. Recently released guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state those who have received their COVID-19 vaccine may get together with other fully vaccinated individuals in small groups inside their homes without masks or physical distancing.
