BAY CITY, MI - Dog owners will want to be aware of a canine illness that is spreading through the area, prompting Bay County officials to take action.
Craig Goulet of Bay County Animal Services & Adoption Center said that kennel cough has been found in the shelter and in local veterinary clinics, prompting the county to temporarily close the shelter and the Bay County Central Bark Park. Meanwhile, the dog in question is continuing to heal and improve, though his veterinary bills keep rising.
The Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit is offering a reward of up to $5,000 “for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for cruelly and repeatedly stabbing” the dog, now named Tank.
“The egregious, intentional and prolonged violence inflicted on this animal is unconscionable,” said Molly Tamulevich, the HSUS’ Michigan state director. “We are hopeful that anyone with information about this terrible crime will come forward so that the abuser can be brought to justice.
