Burlington, IA- Transitions DMC has put plans to purchase the Lincolnville Motel and convert it into apartments to house the homeless and underprivileged on hold. The Burlington Beacon reports that the sale and rezoning of the motel for the project was dependent upon a National Housing Trust Fund grant to cover most of the cost. Transitions DMC President Craig Fenton said that he chose not to apply for the grant due to concerns about the application. The total cost of the project is somewhere between $2.7 million and $3 million. Fenton is currently pursuing other grants. A tentative offer by Transitions DMC to purchase the motel had been accepted, but the purchase was dependent on the grant. Fenton said that the motel could still be an option, but it's not the only one.
