RUTHERFORDTON - Duke Energy customers in the Carolinas do not have to be concerned about a power failure like the one that happened in Texas last February, or massive unexpected jumps in their power bills.
That was among the messages from Craig DeBrew, in an online Zoom meeting Tuesday, hosted by Foothills Regional Commission (formerly Isothermal Planning and Development Commission). DeBrew is a district manager with Duke Energy. DeBrew updated local government leaders on several energy-related issues during the session.
In mid-February, during an unusually cold weather period in Texas, the power system failed dramatically, leaving millions without power. Those who retained power, were shocked at the massive power bills.
