To her family. Reporter karina was killed tuesday while out for a jog in howard beach. When she didnt return home, her father called police and went looking for her. She was found later that night off the running trail face down. She was strangled and possibly sexually assaulted. A vigil was held earlier in the week. And friday night, hundreds came to pay their respects. Karinas killer has not been caught. But her story has dominated National Headlines and sent a small queens neighborhood where so many had felt so safe. I feel for her family. Who wouldnt . God forbid it would be my daughter. With the zika crisis costs money. Research for new vaccines and nih Just Announced the first cringe cal trials in humans. That costs money. Thats why there is an urgent request for funding back in february. Not only did the Republicanled Congress not pass the request, they worked to cut it. Then they left for summer recess without passing new fight against zika. The folks on the front lines in the meantime have been moving funds from other areas to make do. But now the money that we need to fight zika is rapidly running out. The situation is getting critical. For instance, without sufficient funding, Clinical Trials and the possibilities of a vaccine which is well within reach could be delayed.
