(WECT) - The Town of Kure Beach has moved the official start date for its new paid parking program to Friday, April 9, 2021 with the grace period until April 21, 2021 remaining the same. Mayor Craig Bloszinsky says the program is ready to start except for one thing. “Honestly this move of 2 days is driven by problems securing labor for installation of the signs,” said Bloszinsky in an email.

(WECT) - It’s the sole beach town in New Hanover County that does not charge visitors for parking, but that will soon be coming to an end as Kure Beach Town Council members met Monday and approved a paid parking program. The debate was tabled on Jan. 26 until Feb. 1 during a Town Council retreat as council members wanted to review the contracts before moving forward with approval. Now, they have done just that.

Two municipalities are considering paid parking as a way to collect funds for their beach-specific needs, and a third is preparing to launch its program this March.
