no matter what you ask about, if it s bad or it sounds bad, they re going to say no way. and the important number here is probably 2018. how is this going to play in the midterms? if the midterms become a referendum on whether the people think the president obstructed justice, this republican in congress right now is not going to impeach this president, i don t think. there aren t many purple seats. it s very hard to find which seats are going to switch, right? true. i just want to throw one more thing on the table based on what kristen was saying earlier about how this is a distraction. they want to get health care done. a lot of people think they want this distraction so they can sneak that health care bill through. usually you think about the scandal getting in the way of the agenda. remember they re crafting a bill in the senate, not going through committee. no one has been allowed to read it. we re not talking about that really strange thing because we re talking about r
carmen wong ulrich, and jamal simmons and newly elected congresswom congresswoman symanon. well, republicans have said the same thing, and there are a group of people who are congresspeople spending time right now and according to the aides spent time over the holidays thinking about what a bill would look like crafting a bill. we have yet to see what a bill might look like. absolutely, we are looking at a scene right now that makes it look very difficult to get anything, anything progressive certainly passed. now, you know, the reality is that both parties here are starting from in the red on immigration reform. the republican party has consistently blocked everything,
and they have the political muscle to do it. let me make one more point just on that. basically, lobbying is giving the subsidy to the lawmakers that you support. that is the time, effort, brain power, technical expertise of crafting a bill. it s incredibly important at the state level. so when someone comes in and says we ve got these experts on gun laws and they ve written it up, don t you worry about it, that is very powerful. that s a really powerful thing. one of the sub texts is we would all be better off with larger staffs of state reps and state senators.
