Happy memories of training campus life | Warrington Guardian

Life on campus in swinging sixties | Warrington Guardian

This picture shows the Padgate Teacher Training College back in 1967. These buildings, which still stand today as part of the University of Chester s Padgate campus, were part of a £1million extension which was unveiled then. Minister of state for education and science Goronwy Rees opened the extension on June 2. The first phase of the extension had been started some 13 years earlier. Sadly teaching will stop at the campus next year. The university has opted to close the Padgate campus and move into buildings in the town centre. It brings to an end a long history of education on the Crab Lane site.

Daughters who lost their mother to coronavirus now face being kicked out of the family s rented home

Two daughters who lost their mother to coronavirus now face being kicked out of the family s rented home because the tenancy ended with their parent s death.  Much-loved cafe worker Kyra King died aged 48 last month, just weeks after contracting coronavirus, meaning her devastated daughter Courtney Johnson, 23, is now set to take legal responsibility for her sister Milly, 16, who is currently living with her. Kyra had rented a four-bedroom property in Bevan Lee Road in Cannock, Staffordshire, for 15 years before her death. Yet Courtney, who is herself a mother of one, has now been told she cannot take over the tenancy of the long-term family home.
