The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports eight people died in traffic crashes during this year's Thanksgiving holiday counting period from 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022. There were no boating crashes or boating fatalities. There were two drownings. During the Thanksgiving holiday counting period, troopers report the following traffic statistics for 2022 (preliminary): Crashes ─ 414 Injuries ─ 115 Fatalities ─ 8 DWI ─ 113 Drug Arrests ─ 35 [During the 2021 Thanksgiving holiday counting period, troopers investigated 381 traffic crashes, which included nine fatalities and 134 injuries.
