After about eight years of reviewing the possibility of turning the old rail line into a trail, Cowlitz County commissioners decided this spring to pull out of the project.
The work performed after an emergency closure took place on the Lewis and Clark Bridge overnight was a temporary fix as the bridge awaits a more extensive repair project scheduled for the summer of 2023, the Washington State Department of Transportation said.
