JAIPUR: The health department issued a direction to all chief medical health officers across the state asking them to ensure that Covid vaccines should not be wasted.
The department has also clarified that individuals having lab test proven Covid illness should defer vaccination by three months after recovery.
A video conference of the health department was held on Thursday in which officials discussed the issue of wastage of the vaccine.
Officials said individuals who have received the 1st dose and contracted the infection should defer the second dose by three months from the date of recovery.
Persons with any other serious general illness requiring hospitalization for ICU care, must wait 4-8 weeks before getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

Vardhan informed his colleagues that 17 new laboratories are going to be added to the INSACOG network to increase the number of samples screened and allow for more spatial analysis, the ministry said.
The network is presently served by 10 laboratories located at different corners of the country.
The research efforts for the drug started in April last year and ended recently, when the DCGI gave it the emergency-use approval (EUA).
The CoWIN portal will be made available in Hindi and 14 regional languages by next week, while 17 more laboratories will be added to the INSACOG network to monitor the variants of COVID-19, the health ministry said on Monday.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued a fresh advisory to warn citizens about a few CoWin vaccine registration apps that are found to be nothing short of a scam.
It functions in a way that the SMS asks receivers to download and install any of the five apps on their smartphone and it is downloaded as APK files so that scammers can easily send malware into their smartphones.
The only official portal is CoWin where one can book Covid-19 vaccine slots and it can be accessed at cowin.gov.in, the report said.
