Isle of Wight campaigner and charity volunteer Marguerite Cowderoy

Marguerite Cowderoy. THE LIFE S work of a campaigner and charity volunteer, Marguerite Cowderoy, has been reflected on by family and friends in the months since her death. Born on June 29, 1926, she died on December 19, 2020, and her funeral was on January 12, 2021, at St Mary’s Church in Northwood Park, Cowes. Marguerite was 94. She moved to the Isle of Wight with her family in 1975, taking up a position teaching French at Carisbrooke High School. Her husband Bryan taught at Kitbridge Middle School in Newport but died unexpectedly from a virus in 1980. Following her loss, Marguerite devoted the rest of her life to spending time with family, teaching, singing in St Mary’s choir and charity work.

Suzanne calls time on medical career after 47 years of loyal service

A WOMAN synonymous with one of the Isle of Wight s medical centres has decided to retire after almost have a century of dedicated service to the community. Suzanne Boxell retired after more than 47 years of loyal service at Cowes Medical Centre, having joined the Practice in Consort Road in 1973, two years after it was opened by Earl Mountbatten. Suzanne worked as a medical secretary for the majority of her career and embraced many changes over the decades, including computerisation and a move to a new building in Newport Road. A spokesperson for Cowes Medical Centre said: Suzanne gave exceptional commitment to public service, and we wish to thank her publicly for all she has done for the patients and staff here – we wish her a very happy retirement.
