VOV.VN - The Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC) unveiled on the morning of March 5 that they have begun the process of receiving registrations from volunteers to participate in the initial phase of clinical trials for the second domestically-produced COVID-19 vaccine known as Covivac.
During the first phase of human trials, a total of 120 volunteers aged between 18 and 59 will be injected with two 0.5 ml doses of the vaccine 28 days apart. In addition, they will also receive a sum of VND3.6 million in order to cover their travel expenses to the site.
In line with the schedule, volunteers will remain at the clinical trial area for a period of 24 hours after receiving their shots in order to allow them to be under strict health observations by the research team.
Russia has already approved two COVID-19 vaccines, including the Sputnik V shot, developed by Moscow s Gamaleya Institute, following a similar approach of granting approval before seeing any late-stage trial results.
