Share June Election To Decide Covington ISD Board Seat Covington Independent School District has announced that it will hold an election Saturday, June 5, to break a tie between two candidates in the May election. The district had three school board positions on its ballot this year, and four candidates were seeking a spot. Incumbent Kevin Ray won a seat with 63 votes and Cody Nickell received 56 votes to secure another seat. Candidates Joe Reitz and David Shane Johnson each received 36 votes. The Texas Election Code allows ties to be handled in one of several ways, including a second election, casting lots or one candidate voluntarily withdrawing from the race.
